Football giants roar in school games

Plateau Girls from uasin Gishu won their opening their opening match at the Rift Valley Secondary Schools Sports Association (RVSSSA) in Baringo County on Wednesday morning.

With less experience in the game, Plateau won by 2-1 against their neighbour’s Moi High school Kapcherop from Elgeyo Marakwet County.

Sheila Lumadi netted first in the 17th minute with a long shot to give the Plateau girls a lead. But the lead’s celebration was cut short after Isabella Chepkemoi scored in her own net to equalize for the Elgeyo Marakwet team school.

With two minutes into the break, Damaris Nasimiyu scored the winner on 28th minute to collect maximum points.

But it was a goal galore in Wiyeta against Sowot girls. The Trans Nzoia side humiliated Nakuru County champions 11-0 in a one sided match. It was also an 8-0 goal between Tartar girls against Entarara girls. The West Pokot, based side Tartar leads pool A with three points with eight goals.

In boys category, St. Anthony Kitale, Ortum and Laiser Hill won their respective matches in various groups.

Representing Trans Nzoia county, St. Anthony beat Ololunga 4-1 in one sided match while Ortum from West Pokot walloped Kibungut from Bomet 9-0 before kajiado’s Laiser Hill won against Olmolan 3-1.
